About American Hooligans
Nov 22nd, 2006 by J-Bla
American Hooligans is a sports-themed blog created by J-Bla and DoctorD, with the intention to chronicle the lives and times of two regular sports fans in a world where sports have become increasingly ludicrous.
We’re in an era where baseball is making more money than ever but still can’t fill stadiums or get TV time on anything but Fox and basic cable. Where football’s salary cap, designed to increase parity, has only served to make every team uniformly mediocre. Where pro basketball is more reliant on offense than U.S. foreign policy. Where hockey and soccer, two sports with world-wide appeal, barely qualify as sports domestically.
We’re in an era where Joe Buck gets more airtime than, than - well, anyone able to pass air over his vocal cords to make sound come out. Where four retired football players can sit in front of a camera on Sunday mornings, make grunting sounds and be considered “analysts.” Where people don’t know who Howard Cosell was.
It’s tough to be a sports fan nowadays. We’re here to help alleviate the burden.
Staff
- J-Bla - Editor in Chief: J-Bla figured out how to run Wordpress and edits for his day job, so he donned the EIC moniker. He wields the position with an iron fist and cigar, micromanaging the staff below him until they either run screaming or submit to his will. Which brings us to …
- DoctorD - Executive Editor: DoctorD called Vice President after J-Bla called President. Also, he bugs J-Bla about putting up ads so the site might someday make money.
- Coach A - Contributor: Coach A, the poor soul, found us and wanted to hop on board team AH. If you ask nicely, he’ll show you the initiation scars.
